Why I Found LitAdmit

I’ve always truly believed that education/educational services should be three things:

1. Accessible

2. Affordable

3. Attainable

When I discovered the deferred MBA program, I was ecstatic! Apply in your final year of college, work for a couple of years and graduate from your dream school? Sounds perfect.

But this initial excitement soon died out as I started researching deeper. A quick LinkedIn search – and I was gutted. Seemed like students who studied abroad in Ivy League colleges with soaring GMAT scores were the only ones to actually get in. Next, high costs of consultants, ambiguity about admissions processes, lack of information regarding writing essays, limited awareness of programs, absence of a community and other barriers aside, even considering applying to my dream school felt like a mammoth task. I was demotivated to the point where I self-rejected myself before even applying. The stark contrast between my belief in the education system and the ground reality, was upsetting.

Looking back, I’m grateful to friends and family who pushed me towards achieving my long term dream. But, I would be remiss if I didn't mention those days where I felt lost, utterly confused and incredibly alone. In conversation with other applicants, I gathered that they experienced something similar as well. But why?

After having gone through the process myself and helping many students with their applications, there are couple of things I found unique to the Indian applicant :

- We tend to have lower self-esteem and confidence while applying to top colleges

- We want a high quality service, but want to pay fairly for a consultant

- We like to be hand-held to some extent (blame all those years of tuition coaching)

- We want to connect with people who have similar backgrounds like us and have made it to our dream schools

- We trust more when we form close bonds with those we’re working with

- We love flexibility

LitAdmit endeavours to encapsulate all these requirements in one service, specifically tailored to suit the Indian applicant and create a community of passionate students.
